Royal Marechaussee (KMar)

The Royal Marechaussee is a military organisation with varied designated tasks, such as border surveillance, security and policing. Its border surveillance task is implemented in subordination to the authority of the Ministry of Security and Justice. KMar monitors people travelling into and out of the country and therefore also the North Sea. It implements this task by carrying out inspections and by enhancing the supply of information about passengers and flows of crew at sea. A number of physical inspections of cruise ships and ferries, for example, are carried out onshore.
