Spatial planning

For the spatial planning of onshore and offshore activities, the interaction insofar as it relates to direct physical relationships, such as the location of a port and a shipping route or the cable connection between a wind farm and the landing point, will in any case be taken into account.

More indirect relationships, such as the requisite space for the assembly of wind farms, will not always be fully factored in beforehand. With respect to the feasibility of the policy, it would be efficient to conduct a more structural analysis of these derivative relationships. This is a good chance for the private sector to respond to any opportunities that arise. For example, an innovative idea was privately developed to use an offshore port for the assembly of wind farms, not just on the Dutch part of the North Sea but also on parts belonging to neighbouring countries.
