Finance

Amongst other things, the Ministry of Finance is working on achieving good financial management in the Netherlands and on taxation based on solid fiscal legislation. The Customs department is part of the Inland Revenue.

Douane

Customs

Goods enter and leave the Netherlands every day. Customs is responsible for monitoring the movement of goods. Due to its location on the outer border of the European Union, the Netherlands fulfils an important role in terms of distribution, transport, processing and (tele)communication. To maintain this position, good customs facilities are vitally important.

Customs has 3 core tasks: blocking undesired goods, monitoring the application of (non-) fiscal laws and regulations, and imposing and collecting taxes.
Cross-border flows of goods and persons by way of the North Sea are monitored from the air and at sea.
