The Doordewind wind energy area is located between 77 and 102 kilometers off the coast, north of Ameland and on the border of the German part of the North Sea. It is therefore far from the mainland and cannot be seen from the coast after construction.

Sites
A total of approximately 4,000 megawatts (MW) is planned in the Doordewind wind energy area.
The tender for site I (2000 MW) will probably take place in 2027. The wind energy area will supply electricity from 2032. Site II moves on to the follow-up phase of the offshore wind energy roadmap, the period 2033-2040.
