MOSWOZ Newsflash - May 2026
Dear reader,
After five years of research into maritime safety around offshore wind farms, MOSWOZ is entering a new phase.
Last year, MOSWOZ published the policy report ‘Maritime Safety at Offshore Wind Farms’. This concludes that risk management in the North Sea must be made more future-proof. The report also provides a solid basis for sharing knowledge and insights with stakeholders.
In this newsletter, we outline how we are focusing on future-proof risk management in the new programme period, and how we are actively engaging with stakeholders.

New approach to risk management for maritime safety
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management has decided to implement a risk management process for the North Sea. MOSWOZ’s policy report and the accompanying supporting document are aligned with this. Based on the international standard ISO 31000, MOSWOZ employs a structured approach to risk management. This enables risks and measures to be systematically weighed against one another and allows for a better response to the growing and changing risks in the North Sea.
MOSWOZ on Tour: engaging in dialogue on maritime safety
Through ‘MOSWOZ on Tour’, our programme reaches out to the wider world. During working visits to companies, organisations and international partners, MOSWOZ shares knowledge and findings from its policy report on maritime safety around offshore wind farms. At the same time, dialogue is central: what are the stakeholders’ concerns, what are their worries and what developments do they see? This provides valuable insights not only for the research programme, but also for the stakeholders.
