Hollandse Kust (west) wind farm zone

Particulars of the wind farm

Hollandse Kust (west) lies 53 kilometres from the coast, to the west of the Hollandse Kust (north) wind farm zone. So it is a long way from the mainland and, on completion, will hardly be visible from the coast. The electricity will be brought to land near Wijk aan Zee by transmission cables and, from there, distributed to the national electricity grid.

Lots

This wind energy area is divided into three plots of approximately 700 MW each, of which the two northern plots (plots VI and VII) will be developed first. The site decisions VI and VII of the Hollandse Kust (west) wind energy area were published in the Government Gazette of February 25, 2022. After the notification of the decisions on December 9, 2021, the site decisions were available for inspection until Friday, January 21, 2022. The site decisions are irrevocable.

The tenders for lots VI and VII took place in 2022. Construction of the wind farms will start in 2026 and energy will be generated in the wind energy area from 2027.

All reports and decisions can be found on the website of the RVO Bureau for Energy Projects (opens in new window) (refers to another website).

Passage

The Hollandse Kust (west) wind farm is not accessible for free passage due to shared use. After construction, passage is only possible via a so-called corridor, a passage way for small vessels.

Shared use

When the Hollandse Kust (west) wind energy area is opened, an area passport guide will become available. Zoning in this area passport indicates where in the wind farm there is room for shared use.
